Cambridge third in Academic Ranking of World Universities 2021

The University of Cambridge has been named the third best university in the world and best in the UK following the publication of the Academic Ranking of World Universities 2021.

Other UK universities in the global top 25 included the University of Oxford (7th), University College London (17th) and Imperial College London (25th), whilst the University of EdinburghUniversity of ManchesterKing's College London and the University of Bristol all made the top 80.

The Academic Ranking of World Universities was first launched in 2003 and ranks global universities across six indicators, including number of alumni and staff winning Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals, the number of highly cited researchers selected by Clarivate Analytics, and the number of articles published in the journals Nature and Science. In total, 1,200 universities are ranked, with the the top 500 published.
